The Oldest Man In The World 256 Years Breaks The Silence Before His Death And Reveals Its Secret To The World

The New York Times article from 1930 shows that Wu Chung-Chieh, a professor on the Chengdu University, discovered some Imperial Chinese government records from 1827 congratulating Li Ching-Yuen on his 150th birthday. He went further with the documents, later congratulating him on his 200th birthday in 1877. A New York Times correspondent in 1928 wrote that several of the old men in Li’s neighborhood stated that when their grandfathers were boys, they knew him and at that time he was a grown man.

Li Ching Yuen in fact began his herbalist career when he was 10. He was gathering herbs in the mountain ranges and he learned of their potency for longevity. For nearly 40 years, he lived on a diet of herbs like wild ginseng, lingzhi, goji berry, gotu kola and he shoo wu and rice wine. In 1749, when he was 71 years old, he is joining the Chinese army as teacher of martial arts. Li was known as a much-loved figure in his community. He was married 23 times and is a father of more than 200 children.

According to the commonly accepted tales that were told in his province, Li was able to read and write since he was a child, and by his 10th birthday had traveled in Shansi, Tibet, Kansu, Annam, Siam and Manchuria in order to gather some herbs. For the first 100 years he continued with his occupation. Then he switched to selling herbs that the others were gathering. He sold wild ginseng, lingzhi, goji berry, he shou wu and gotu kola as well as some other Chinese herbs, and he lived of a diet of these herbs and the rice wine.

He Wasn’t The Only One

As one of the Li’s supporters said, once he had encountered a man who was more than 500 years old, who taught him of the Qigong exercises and dietary recommendations which would help him to extend his lifespan to superhuman proportions. Apart from Qigong and herb-rich diet, what more can we learn from this Master of Longevity?

Where have they come from? Scientists are baffled as MILLIONS of rare ‘sea pickles’ arrive on the US west coast

Pyrosomes are only a few millimetres long, but tend to gather in huge colonies.

Speaking to The Guardian, Olivia Blondheim, a student at the University of Oregon, said: ‘Right now we are scrambling to learn as much as possible while we have the opportunity.

‘If we continue to see this many, what impact will it have on the ecosystems here, and what economic impact on the fisheries?

‘There are so many unknowns at this point, it really is a remarkable bloom.’

Pyrosomes usually live in the upper layers of the open ocean in warm seas, although some are found a bit deeper.

The cylindrical-shape colonies are made up of thousands of individuals, known as zooids.

Water Is Your #1 Priority — How to Provide

Posted in 2017, Extreme Weather, food with tags , , , , on May 4, 2017 by theboldcorsicanflame

When we moved to the Northwest we got to experience being completely off-grid. Not by choice mind you… In the Northwest it rains. It rains a lot. We also have trees, lots and lots of trees. Trees plus massive amounts of water plus wind equal downed power lines. Compound that with the fact that we live in the boondocks and the power lines run through thousands upon thousands of acres of forested area.  Suffice it to say power outages are frequent and long.

At first you only think of the inconvenience, but then you realize the benefit of this experience. The benefit is that you gain perspective and understand your priorities very quickly. You realize that it isn’t your computer, your lights or even your air conditioner that you miss most.  You miss running water.Water

Water may not be as appealing as planning for shelter or food but it is your first priority. The only other subject which is more important, at times, is security. Water is life. On your homestead you need to figure out how to:

  1. Collect Water
  2. Filter Water
  3. Clean Water
  4. Store Water
  5. Distribute Water
  6. Heat Water

all without the aid of electricity.  Not all solutions will work for you. You need to consider your property, rainfall in your area, waterfowl migration, bodies of water, groundwater – shallow and deep, droughts, seasons, delivery and disbursement systems, small-scale filtering and large-scale filtering options, cleaning possibilities all without the aid of electricity.

Toilet to tap: California brewery makes beer with treated SEWAGE water… and curious customers describe the taste as ‘outstanding’

A Southern California brewery has successfully tested a beer using treated sewage water.

Stone Brewing, a large craft brewing operation headquartered in Escondido, presented its Full Circle Pale Ale to curious customers at an event Thursday in San Diego.

The new ale is made using recycled, treated sewage water and is part of San Diego’s plan, ‘Pure Water San Diego,’ to get a third of its water from recycled sources by 2021.

And the verdict for the brew, which some have dubbed ‘toilet to tap,’ seemed to be quite positive, SF Gate reported.

San Diego mayor Kevin Faulconer told the Times that the brew was ‘fantastic’ and added: ‘There’s no better way to highlight the purity of this water.’

Other patrons said the brew was ‘outstanding’ and ‘delicious.’

10 Survival Skills Your Great-Grandparents Knew (That Most Of Us Have Forgotten) – Howtoprovide

Posted in 2017, Extreme Weather, food with tags , , , , , , , , on March 23, 2017 by theboldcorsicanflame

Our modern society is highly dependent upon we’ll call the “system.” Not only do we rely upon utility services to bring us electricity, water and natural gas, but also on an incredibly complex supply chain which provides us with everything from food to computers. Without that supply chain, most of us wouldn’t know what to do.

This situation is actually becoming worse, rather than better. When I compare my generation (I’m in my 50s) to that of my children, I see some striking differences. In my generation it was normal for a boy to grow up learning how to do a wide variety of trade skills from his father, and seemingly everyone knew how to do basic carpentry and mechanic work. But that’s no longer normal.

If we extrapolate it back, we can see that my father’s generation knew even more – and my grandparent’s generation even more. Those older generations were much more closely tied to the roots of an agricultural society, where people were self-reliant. There are multiple skills they had which modern society no longer considers necessary.

But if we were to have a breakdown in society, those skills which we never bothered to learn would become essential. Those who don’t know these skills would either have to learn or die trying.

Here are 10 skills our grandparents knew that most of us have long forgotten:

1. Gardening for Food

Healthy Eating Habit: If you do not know About it yet, Here is The Powerbowl – Food in a Bowl

Posted in 2017, food, Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on January 20, 2017 by theboldcorsicanflame
powerball

The preparation is quite strict, although you can put just about anything you want. So if you do not know yet, you are presented this very tasty food bowl.

The principle of powerbowl? Take a bowl and put some food in it. Well what, in the idea is that? Okay, more seriously, it involves using fairly accurate amounts of food. The goal is that the bowl contains all the right nutrients your body needs.

The perfect powerbowl would apparently consist of this, according to the Daily Mail:

-35% of vegetables

-25% cereals

-15% lean protein

-10% of sauces

-30% extra (eg macadamia nuts, hazelnuts, pine nuts, etc.)

You can also do it in fruity version. The 35% of vegetables will be replaced by fruit. Ideally, there should be 3 different vegetables (or fruits) in your bowl. The powerbowl (fruity) would be a full of energy to start the day. And above all, it would avoid the cravings of 10:30 that some know very well.

Good ingredients to add to your shopping list if you want to recreate your own at home include quinoa, beetroot, sweet potato, seeds, nuts, chicken, black beans and avocado (of course).
